Well our 2 weeks are up and Art has left for Alberta again. The job is coming to a close and he will hopefully be off for a couple months after its completion. He will only be home for a week next days off so it will be a whirlwind visit. We had a great time while he was home this time though. We took a little weekend trip to PEI for the Jack Frost Festival which was a lot of fun for the kids and more work than imaginable for us. It was an outdoor thing so we were in and out of snowsuits and boots and hats and mittens and yadayadayada dozens of times. Josiah, who loves to go outside, does not like wearing all the garb so that made things rather unpleasant. We saw Blue from Blue's Clues our first night and as he is obsessed with her he repeated her name over and over all weekend. Her name was on his lips as soon as he opened his eyes after a nap, we all had a chuckle over that. We tied using her as bait to get him to cooperate in getting dressed four times a day. It was a pretty cold weekend so after being outside a lot we fell into bed early Friday and Saturday night. The first night we were awakened many times by a crying child who we assumed was next door to us. I don't know, the walls were pretty thin so he could have been anywhere. He cried most of the night calling out for his mother. It sounded like he was probably under four and sound terrified and Art and I were pretty annoyed. Even Josiah woke up saying 'baby'. It seemed odd that his parents were choosing this weekend to work on Ferberizing their small child and just plain disrespectful to the other guests. See it's so nice when your mind hasn't been poisoned by the likes of Dr. Phil who claims by the way that sharing the family bed is psychologically damaging to children, to take your child to bed with you and comfort him or stick a boob in his mouth! Poor Art, he didn't get much sleep. Eva Avila was playing on the outdoor stage on Saturday night but we knew Josiah couldn't make it through that so we convinced Hannah to go back to the hotel and go for a swim before bed. The hotel had set up a playroom with lots of toys and a TV, of course, next to the diningroom so the inside experience was usually quite pleasant. They even had a magician come and perform and Hannah got to participate in a card trick. All in all it was a good time. Would I do it again next year? No, I would prefer to be on a beach in Jamaica. Which, by the way was actually what we had wanted to do this year, not Jamaica but Cuba. We ended up having some passport issues though so we didn't get away anywhere warm this year.
